Samsung's next iteration of its custom Android skin, One UI 7, has not had a great start. Google's Android 17, codenamed "Cinnamon Bun," has reached platform stability. It depends heavily on what chipset is inside your phone. Samsung started rolling out the One UI 9 beta, beginning with the Galaxy S26 series (S26, S26+, S26 Ultra) in select countries including Germany, UK, South Korea, and the US. The stable One UI 9 rollout is expected in July 2026, likely alongside the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will get Android 17 as their final major OS update, with support ending in October 2026. A massive slice of phones sold here runs on Snapdragon 4-series or Dimensity 6000-series chips.
