Towards the latter part of last week, Panasonic launched their new bridge camera called the Lumix FZ1000 which has a 16x Leica DC Vario-Elmarit Optical Zoom lens which is paired to a 20.1MP image sensor that is capable of recording videos with 4K resolution at 30fps and Full-HD clips at 120fps. A reader emailed in asking for advise on which dSLR camera to get with a budget under Php40,000. I'm biased towards Canon cameras but here's my list of possible kits you can buy with that budget. Canon may be preparing to enter the pocket gimbal camera segment, based on a newly published patent that outlines a compact, stabilized handheld device aimed at content creators. The patent describes a compact camera with an integrated three-axis gimbal, a fixed lens, and a built-in screen housed within a handheld grip. Instead of simply cutting power, the camera would guide the gimbal into a safe resting position using sensors and image detection before turning off. Canon has reportedly filed multiple patents related to gimbal cameras over the past few years, with designs gradually shifting from experimental concepts to more practical, consumer-ready ideas. DJI recently updated its Osmo Pocket lineup, while other brands are also exploring compact, creator-focused camera systems.
