In an effort to ease the traffic in EDSA and C5 especially with the holidays fast approaching, the newly formed Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (IACT) will soon remove the Number Coding window for the said main roads. According to TV Patrol's report, the Number Coding window will be removed in EDSA and C5, meaning, if your car's plate number is under that code for that day, you won't be able to drive on the said roads. The removal of Number Coding windows will start in November until first week of January of 2017. In line with this, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) are studying the possibility of expanding the number coding scheme in anticipation of a higher traffic volume. MMDA officer-in-charge chairman Romando Artes did say however, that an expended number coding scheme will not be immediately imposed should the March 1 switch be approved. Artes said during a press briefing that the MMDA are still studying whether to expand the number coding hours from 7:00am t0 9:00am and 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Majority of NCR mayors have agreed and signed a resolution that reinstates the Number Coding scheme in Metro Manila.   According to Allan Gatus' report on Super Radyo dzBB on Monday via GMA News Online, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Benhur Abalos said that the number coding scheme will be implemented from Monday to Friday, from 5 PM to 8 PM, and will only cover private vehicles.
