Canon may be preparing to enter the pocket gimbal camera segment, based on a newly published patent that outlines a compact, stabilized handheld device aimed at content creators. The patent describes a compact camera with an integrated three-axis gimbal, a fixed lens, and a built-in screen housed within a handheld grip. Canon has reportedly filed multiple patents related to gimbal cameras over the past few years, with designs gradually shifting from experimental concepts to more practical, consumer-ready ideas. DJI recently updated its Osmo Pocket lineup, while other brands are also exploring compact, creator-focused camera systems. Canon’s potential entry could bring its imaging expertise and color science into a space currently led by action camera and drone-focused companies.
