The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) reported a 93.61% drop in detected online gambling links in the Philippines during the third quarter of 2025. The CICC attributed the decline to stronger government monitoring, site takedown efforts, and ongoing awareness campaigns against illegal gambling. The CICC also noted that users have become more vigilant, showing that awareness efforts are effective. Following our recent Facebook post on BDO’s customer advisory on unauthorized transactions, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has joined the investigation. However, CICC Acting Executive Director Aboy Paraido explained QR codes are only for receiving payments and don’t store personal information. The CICC suspects either human interference or a data leak, ordering a forensic check on Berenguer’s device. Due to the increasing popularity of social media among Filipinos, GMA News has announced its plans of launching a new service called GMA News Feed which would provide Pinoy Facebook users with quick updates about trending topics and current affairs.
