The COMELEC website was hacked last month by LulzSec Pilipinas and was able to obtain the site's database which includes information of about 70 million registered voters and uploaded it online. Maybe, at least now, government will start thinking about security of citizens' personal data." According to tweets posted by journalist Zyann Ambrosio, COMELEC Chairman Andres Bautista said that the hacker admitted that he defaced the COMELEC website. The NBI is now determining if the suspect is involved in the hacking of other government websites. Anonymous PH defaced the COMELEC website back in March. The group also said in a Readme text included in the leaked files that "some of the tables are encrypted by Comelec," but added that they have the algorithm to decrypt the data.
