Meta will be introducing Messenger Shortcuts that allow users to do things like sending a message silently and finding GIFs while chatting with friends. In December, Facebook Messenger received a major upgrade with end-to-end encryption for chats. Meta announced today that it’s now rolling out end-to-end encryption for personal chats and calls on Facebook and Messenger. This means only you and the person you send a message to via Facebook Messenger can see its contents. Although, since Facebook Messenger has a billion downloads, global rollout may take a while. Meta has revealed that Facebook Messenger will no longer be available as an app on the Apple Watch by May 31, 2023. Other users have speculated that it may have something to do with Meta getting you to use Facebook Messenger on your phone more and thus show more ads. But for whatever reason it may be, it is sad to see Facebook Messenger no longer available on the Apple Watch since it was a key feature for a lot of users to reply to messages, send voice clips, stickers, and more when their phone wasn't readily available.
