Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8.5, based on Android 16 QPR2, will be the final major feature update for several older Galaxy devices, though they’ll continue receiving security patches for some time. This means models like the Galaxy S22 series (S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, S21 FE), Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, mid-rangers such as A73 5G, A53, A33, M05, F14/F05, and tablets including Tab S8 lineup, Tab A9/A9+, plus XCover 6 Pro, won’t see One UI 9 or later Android versions. Samsung is accelerating its software update game, rolling out the much-anticipated One UI 7 update based on Android 15 to several popular Galaxy models, including the Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S22 series, and Galaxy S21 series. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra are getting their turn in Samsung’s home market of South Korea. The Galaxy S21 series — including the S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra — has also begun receiving the One UI 7 update, starting with South Korea. While older than the S24 and S22 lines, the S21 series continues to enjoy strong software support, a testament to Samsung’s growing commitment to long-term device updates.
