Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8.5, based on Android 16 QPR2, will be the final major feature update for several older Galaxy devices, though they’ll continue receiving security patches for some time. This means models like the Galaxy S22 series (S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, S21 FE), Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, mid-rangers such as A73 5G, A53, A33, M05, F14/F05, and tablets including Tab S8 lineup, Tab A9/A9+, plus XCover 6 Pro, won’t see One UI 9 or later Android versions.
Owners can still rely on these phones for everyday tasks like banking and social media, thanks to ongoing security fixes, but they’ll miss future Galaxy AI features and UI overhauls. Samsung’s newer flagships, promising up to seven years of OS support, provide a better long-term option as One UI 8.5 aligns with the Galaxy S26 rollout.
Joaquin graduated with a degree in Operations Management from San Beda University. Despite having no direct connection with his undergraduate course, his interest in technology led him to join YugaTech as an intern back in 2018.
