GCash has partnered with government agencies to launch digital payment options for the MRT-3 line. To use the new system, commuters can simply open the GCash app. From here, tap the Commute icon, generate a QR code, and scan it at the turnstiles to enter and exit stations. GCash cards, Visa, Mastercard, and Landbank prepaid cards are also supported at select turnstiles. This included DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon, BSP Monetary Board Member Walter Wassmer, DICT Secretary Henry Aguda, Landbank President Lynette Ortiz, and GCash CEO Martha Sazon. GCash users can learn more by opening the app and tapping the Commute button. GCash, Globe's own micropayment service, gives its reloadable prepaid card a needed upgrade. The new GCash MasterCard with EMV also comes with Beep for compatibility with Metro Manila's unified ticketing on major transportation systems.
