#GCash Visa Mastercard linking

GCash will soon let users link their Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards directly to their accounts for Scan-to-Pay transactions. Users can link up to three Visa or Mastercard credit or debit cards to their accounts. GCash will authenticate card linking through a one-time password (OTP), while it will secure eligible transactions using biometrics or a phone PIN where available. GCash expects to roll out direct Visa and Mastercard card-linking nationwide within August. Several companies, including GCash, Visa, and Mastercard, have shown interest in the Philippine government’s plan to create a single fare payment system for trains and other transport. Aside from GCash, Visa, and Mastercard, other companies like Siemens Mobility, Hitachi Asia, LG CNS, and Cubic Transportation Systems also joined a market study held in Singapore. The new GCash MasterCard with EMV also comes with Beep for compatibility with Metro Manila's unified ticketing on major transportation systems. EMV stands for Europay, MasterCard, and Visa, the trio that created the standard but it's now managed and used by more major payment companies.
