#Global LTE Coverage Ranking

In addition to having one of the slowest LTE speed in the world, OpenSignal’s recent report also show that the Philippines is tied with Ecuador for having the second worst LTE coverage among other countries that were on the list. Instead of just measuring the geographical reach of a particular service provider, OpenSignal defines LTE Coverage, or Time Coverage to be exact, as a metric that measures the coverage as a whole, including the time subscribers have LTE signal whether they are indoors, outdoors, stationary or on the move. Based on OpenSignal’s findings, Smart Communications got a 36% LTE Coverage which put the MVP-owned telco 173rd spot in the global ranking. Globe Telecoms, on the other hand, fared a tad better than its rival, securing the 161st spot in the global ranking with an LTE Coverage of 41%. When combined, the Philippines have an average LTE Coverage of 39% which, as mentioned earlier, is the second to worst in all of the countries on the list. The only country has worse average LTE Coverage is Sri Lanka which had 38-percent. In terms of 4G availability, the Philippines ranked 72nd (out of 75) with 52.77% LTE coverage ( the percentage of the time that users can connect to a 4G network).
