Globe has announced that it has improved the network experience of customers with its new upgraded LTE sites across the country. According to Globe, for the months of September and October 2021, they have built 195 new cell sites and upgraded 2,800 sites with LTE technology in 706 towns and cities across 81 provinces, benefiting nearly 1 million subscribers. Globe has surpassed its cell site builds in the first nine months of 2021, up 82 percent versus the same period last year. Globe has stated that they have built 1,080 new cell sites as of September 2021, up from 593 in January to September 2020. Globe has said there are 340 new cell towers built in Metro Manila and 230 in North Luzon. Globe Telecom has officially partnered with Starlink to bring Direct to Cell (DTC) satellite service to the Philippines, making it the first telco in Southeast Asia to offer this breakthrough technology. Globe is set to announce that they will be offering Starlink's Direct to Cell service in the Philippines. As the first mobile operator in the Philippines to market Starlink’s Direct to Cell (DTC) service, Globe is leveraging space-based technology to reach the most geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas of our archipelago.
