Globe Telecom has launched in the Philippines, and the first in Southeast Asia, the Disney Mobile line of smartphones under the telco's new myStarter postpaid plans. The Disney Mobile smartphones come in three models - Mickey Mouse, Frozen, and Disney Princess. Globe has officially launched Starlink's satellite-to-mobile service in the Philippines after receiving approval from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), making it the first local telecom operator to commercially offer direct-to-device satellite connectivity in the country. Globe has partnered with government agencies to strengthen efforts against mobile-based scams, introducing new tools designed to detect illegal signal activity across the country. In collaboration with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), and the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Globe has donated IMSI catcher detectors to help authorities identify and track unauthorized mobile network activity. Globe, NTC, CICC, CIDG deploy IMSI catcher detectors to fight mobile scamsGlobe said the partnership reflects a broader effort to ensure that digital connectivity in the Philippines remains safe and secure. One curious question here though is why is Globe abandoning the eat-all-you can model for mobile 3G internet? Likewise, Globe has terminated their Globe Visibility Unlimited plans (the one that costs Php3,000 a month for unlimited Mobile 3G internet).
