The statement came shortly after President Duterte's fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) where he said he would close down all telecommunication companies and seize its assets if services won’t improve by December 2020. Globe said that it has made multi-billion dollar investments to improve services but challenges remain. This year Globe has earmarked 1.2 billion US dollars in capex, majority of which goes to network and capacity builds." Globe also cited its current 4G/LTE network and will soon launch mobile 5G services in the country. "Today, the Globe network is running at 4G/LTE. Last year, we launched 5G for Globe At Home and soon we will be launching mobile 5G services in the country. Globally, we are being cited for having improved internet experience." As for the challenges, Globe mentions the long permitting process that hampered cellsite builds and laying down of fiber to homes.
