Globe has announced that its mobile data traffic in 2017 amounted to 600 petabytes (PB), based on recent disclosures filed at the PSE and SEC. Globe says that its mobile data traffic surged 66% from 361 PB registered in 2016 to 600 PB in 2017, more than the competition that registered 275 PB. "Our LTE mobile data service is getting more pervasive, thus giving our customers a better quality of experience. Another offer is Instagram Basic, which keeps users connected within Instagram to buy promos, perform personalized top-ups, and access data loans via the in-app Mobile Center, with the option to return to the full Instagram experience after reloading. Globe Prepaid, Postpaid, and Platinum customers can also tap emergency load and data loans, roaming assistance, and convert Rewards points into essentials such as food and fuel. Globe has partnered with government agencies to strengthen efforts against mobile-based scams, introducing new tools designed to detect illegal signal activity across the country. In collaboration with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), and the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Globe has donated IMSI catcher detectors to help authorities identify and track unauthorized mobile network activity.
