Globe Telecom is set to roll out a new rewards model that allows subscribers to earn digital credits based on how they engage with its mobile ecosystem. Based on a quarterly report from Globe, it seems like Postpaid subscribers are spending 7 times the amount on voice and data services compared to Prepaid subscribers. A recent press release from Globe Telecom indicated that their average revenue per Postpaid subscriber is Php1,492 for the 2nd quarter of 2008. On the other hand, average revenue from Globe Prepaid subscribers is just Php206. Total Globe subscribers is just over 22.7 million but only 727,000 are postpaid and all the rest are prepaid. What's actually interesting is how much Globe spends to acquire new subscribers. People have been asking that since Globe Visibility has obviously moved into the flat prepaid and tiered postpaid models, what will happen to subscribers who are on the GV Unlimited plans? If it's true that 10% of subscribers are eating up imore than 10GB a month and overloading the network, it makes sense for Globe to sacrifice these 10% to improve network quality for the rest of the 90%.
