The HTC One M8 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 are among the very few handsets to pack the new Snapdragon 801 chip with (MSM8974). We did the usual benchmark tests on the HTC One M8 and compared it with the Galaxy S5 we had on hand. On paper, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has the slightly better chip -- an MSM8974-AC which has a maximum clock speed of up to 2.45GHz, while the HTC One M8 that we have uses an MSM8974AB which only goes up to 2.36GHz.
