The goal is to allow more data types than before to be moved between Android and iOS. In the past, moving from iOS to Android required the Android Switch app, while switching from Android to iOS used the Move to iOS app. Apple has released iOS 12.5.8 to keep key services like iMessage, FaceTime, and device activation working on older Apple devices that can no longer upgrade to newer versions of iOS.
