Apple's new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus smartphones are now the cream of the crop in cameras according to tests made by imaging quality benchmark company DxOMark. The company's improved benchmark tools gave the iPhone 8 Plus a near-perfect 94 overall points, which puts it on top of current reigning champs HTC U11 and Google Pixel. The iPhone 8 Plus scored 96 points on its photo tests, while video marks reached 89 points. DxoMark cites better light capturing, more preservation in HDR mode, and generally accurate exposures even in low light. Meanwhile, the smaller iPhone 8 is on the second rank, with a 92 overall score with photo and video scores at 93 and 90, respectively. "Apple has brought some impressive image processing technology to bear on the images that the iPhone 8’s relatively small sensor captures, and it shows in better exposure, improved dynamic range, and lower noise than the iPhone 7," it said.
