Following the iPhone XS Max becoming vintage six months ago, Apple today has now marked the iPhone XS as a vintage product, too. The iPhone XS was launched in September 2018 alongside the iPhone XS Max and was pulled from Apple’s main lineup in 2019. Both phones were incremental updates to the original iPhone X, offering a faster A12 Bionic chip, slightly better cameras, and dual SIM support. In two more years, the iPhone XS will be considered obsolete, meaning Apple will no longer provide service or repairs for it, even if parts are available. Aside from the iPhone XS update, Apple also moved the 5th-generation iPad (2017) to its obsolete list. Apple has announced plans to introduce a new Tap to Pay on iPhone feature that will allow compatible iPhones to act as payment terminals via Apple Pay. This new capability will allow merchants to use their iPhone to securely accept Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets through a simple tap to their iPhone. Tap to Pay on iPhone will be available for payment platforms and app developers to integrate into their iOS apps and offer as a payment option to their business customers.
