Turing Robotic Industries has developed a smartphone that is made of liquid metal which is apparently tougher than steel. Following the release of the Liquid C1, E1, and the S1 during the first half of the year, Acer has announced its latest Android smartphone that packs a dual-core CPU with dual-SIM capabilities, the Liquid Z3. The Liquid Z3 is an affordable entry-level offering that features a 3.5-inch display, a 3 megapixel camera, 4GB of internal storage, WiFi, GPS, and dual-SIM capabilities with HSPA+ (up to 21 Mbps) data connection. The Acer Liquid Z3 has an SRP of 99 Euros or almost Php6,000. This Nokia Liquid Phone is a concept phone that tries to address that. Conceptualized by Rune Larsen, the Nokia Liquid is designed to have some sort of viscuous substrate or liquid underneath the screen which allows the users to feel when pressed. I'm not sure how would that feel like but check out the sample images below: The screen will be made with layers of LCD at the bottom, a hard plastic to separate it from the liquid substance and then a softer plastic on top. The design looks cool but I wonder how crisp or vivid the text and graphics will turn out to be since it passes thru the liquid layer (unless it's really that clear or transparent).
