Recently-appointed Senator Win Gatchalian has filed in Senate the Muffler Act of 2016 which prohibits the use of modified mufflers to enhance the sound output of vehicles. The bill seeks to ban motor vehicles, motorcycles, motorbikes, scooters, and tricycles (public or private) to use any form of modified mufflers, sound boosters, or any device which will increase the sound output higher than seventy decibels. When applied as a law, vehicles would need to be tested by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) during their annual registration to make sure that mufflers would not go beyond the seventy-decibel threshold. The bundle involves two CloudFone devices; a 7-inch CloudPad 700W tablet and CloudFone Excite 320g handset.
