The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) have launched the Central Public Utility Vehicle Monitoring System (CPUVMS), a modern system that can monitor PUV trips in real-time using Global Positioning System (GPS). LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra says that under the CPUVMs, the agencies can also check the speed, estimated time of arrival (ETA), as well as the number of PUVs traversing a specific route at any given time, which can help commuters plan their trips.
