#LTO driver’s license for e-bikes and e-scooters

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will soon require e-scooter and e-bike drivers to get a permit and driver's license as part of the e-scooter guidelines to be approved by the Department of Transportation (DoTr). Under the pending guidelines, LTO will require drivers to register their e-scooter and e-bikes and get a driver’s license to ensure their knowledge about road safety. According to LTO chief Edgar Galvante, an administrative order that consolidates guidelines for using e-scooters was already submitted to DoTr and is currently waiting for approval. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will begin to roll out driver's license cards with 10-year validity to motorists with no traffic violations, as announced by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade. This means it has full access to all private information and can print PH driver's licenses of any holder anytime, from halfway across the globe. Mandatory Periodic Medical Examination Other than the medical exam performed during the application for a new license and the renewal thereof, all driver's license holders shall undergo mandatory periodic medical examination(s) (PME) during the validity period of their license in any LTO-accredited medical clinic or government health facility.
