Aside from the octa-core chip that Mediatek has recently released and found its way to several smartphones in the Philippines, the chipmaker has also announced its very first 64-bit SoC with LTE connectivity. The Mediatek MT6732 is based on an ARM Cortex-A53 processor with Mali-T760 graphics. While there isn't much use for a 64-bit chip in smartphones, the Mediatek MT6732 could be a step into that direction. Taiwanese semiconductor company MediaTek Inc. "Reaching the mid market means bringing people affordable devices that power and perform with the latest features, like dual-cameras and 4G LTE connectivity," TL Lee of MediaTek's Wireless Communication unit said. The MediaTek Helio P23 is set for its release sometime in Q4 of 2017, while the P30 will be launching in China soon. Mediatek will be unveiling two chipsets, namely, the Helio P23 and the Helio P30 at Beijing, China on August 29. MediaTek has just announced the world's first octa-core SOC for smartphones that supports 4G LTE connectivity and powered by the latest Cortex-A17 CPUs from ARM - the MT6595.
