MediaTek officially launches new Helio P23 & P30 SoCs

Taiwanese semiconductor company MediaTek Inc. announced in Taiwan two new system-on-chips, the Helio P23 and P30. These new chipsets will bring more performance and power efficiency, dual camera capabilities, and dual 4G VoLTE SIM capabilities, to the rising mid-range smartphone market.

“Reaching the mid market means bringing people affordable devices that power and perform with the latest features, like dual-cameras and 4G LTE connectivity,” TL Lee of MediaTek’s Wireless Communication unit said.

Both the P23 and P30 will be octa-core chipsets based on Arm Cortex-A53 processors clocked up to 2.3GHz, and both will also feature the new Mali G71 MP2 GPU. Aside from increased performance and power efficiency, both chips will feature the latest generation 4G LTE WorldMore modem for theoretical speeds of 300Mbps download and 150Mbps upload. For photography, the P23 will support up to dual 13MP camera setups, while the P30 can have up to dual 16MP cameras.

The MediaTek Helio P23 is set for its release sometime in Q4 of 2017, while the P30 will be launching in China soon.
