MediaTek has just announced the world’s first octa-core SOC for smartphones that supports 4G LTE connectivity and powered by the latest Cortex-A17 CPUs from ARM – the MT6595.

The MediaTek MT6595 is the company’s premium mobile solution for smartphones which utilizes four ARM Cortex-A17 plus four Cortex-A7 CPUs, ARM big.LITTLE architecture, and a PowerVR Series6 GPU.

In addition to the integrated 4G LTE Multi-Mode modem, it also supports the new H.265 Ultra HD (4K2K) video record and playback, as well as support for Ultra HD video playback for for H.264 and VP9.

Other features include:
• 20 megapixel camera capability and a high-definition WQXGA (2560 x 1600) display controller
• MediaTek ClearMotion for smooth video playback at 60fps
• MediaTek MiraVision technology for DTV-grade picture quality
• support for WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth LE and ANT+ for ultra-low power connectivity with fitness tracking devices
• support for Multi-standard inductive and resonant wireless charging

The MT6595 platform will be commercially available by the first half of 2014, with devices expected in the second half of the year.

Well anyway, the reason I bought the Nexus 5 is because it’s running stock Android which is what I always wanted. And just because I support MediaTek does not mean I’m buying it.

What do you want? Monopoly? Like I said before, more choices means happier consumers. All for the sake of giving consumers wider choices and I’m all for it.

Here’s some advice – the next time you send a comment here, be sure to get yourself a good keyboard, not that one that’s commonly used in Internet Cafés (e.g. CD-R King).

And please, stop thinking I’m MediaTek fanboy. MediaTek processors isn’t my favorite because MediaTek does not want to share their damn source code and I’m more of a vanilla/stock Android fan hence, my ownership of the Nexus 5 I got here. And please, quit dictating me that the LG G2 or whatever smartphone out there is better than the Nexus 5. I’m not a fan of the bloatwares and custom Android skins that phone manufacturers put on their products – it’s so silly and so ugly.

One more thing, commenting that we, your haters, are the “losers” here is just a pity sign of your own silly defense mechanism – an act that gives you a placebo effect.

Yep. Since this is using ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture which is similar to Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa, the cores to be used in the processor will always depend on what the user’s doing on his/her smartphone or tablet. For example, if the user is doing light tasks such as messaging, calling or checking SNS notifications, the power-efficient cores in the CPU will only be used (aka “LITTLE” cores). Once the CPU detects the user is doing intensive tasks such as video decoding, gaming, the more powerful cores (aka the “big” cores) will activate and the power-efficient cores will be deactivated.

Wow, ARM Cortex-A17 na ‘to? Now let me hear from those Mediatek haters about how MT is brute-forcing their way to performance unlike Qualcomm. This may not be a true octa-core like the MT6592 (this will be more like Sammy’s Exynos 5420) but the days of Mediatek having the stigma of a poor man’s SoC ARE OVER. A true flagship SoC but hopefully with mid-range pricing. Keeping my fingers crossed for Mediatek to deliver.

Qualcomm, NVidia, Intel and Samsung better ready their A-Game for the next round.

This won’t be of much use in the PH. Kasi hanggang 1.5 – 3 GB lang naman iooffer sayo ng Globe or Smart. Magiging 2G lang din.

Si globe palang naman nag-eenforce ng 1gb/day ,3gb/month na capping sa mga subscribers nila.According sa CEO ng smart meron lang silang FUP of 1.5gb/month for precautionary measure if ever mareach na nila yung bandwidth limit.Pero as of now di pa din sya enforced dahil malaki pa yung headroom nila sa bandwidth
