Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the US Department of State: Consular Affairs is urging foreign medical professionals to apply for visas. Foreign medical professionals that are already in the states are also encouraged to extend their visas. Medical residents with J-1 visas may also consult their program sponsor, the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), to extend their programs in the US.
