Meralco has confirmed that they will be refunding the convenience fees charged between March 16 and May 15. Earlier today, Meralco has sent a text stating, "In this time of uncertainty we're here to help each other whichever way we can. Meralco will be crediting back the convenience fees charged by our payment gateway partner for online payment transaction/s made between March 16 to May 15 2020. MERALCO has explained to the Department of Energy that the PHP 47 convenience fee for online payment is for PayMaya's services. In a letter, MERALCO President and CEO, Ray C. Cusi, that MERALCO bills paid via the MERALCO App Online Payment Facility go through a payment gateway operated and maintained by PayMaya, which charges a convenience fee of PHP 47 per transaction.
