Perhaps the more exciting news during Xiaomi's latest press event, apart from the announcement of their new devices, is the reveal of the global release of their MIUI 9 ROM and the list of devices that'll receive the update. MIUI 9 was first released in China along with the Mi 5X last July (see the article with features here). Here are some of the highlights of Xiaomi's newest UI: Mi Drop -- an app that will allow the transfer of files between devices without the use of an internet connection. Both smartphones feature a 6.78-inch HD+ display, a 50MP rear camera, and an 8MP front camera, while targeting users looking for affordable devices with large batteries. The brand states that UFS 5.0 is the industry's fastest Universal Flash Storage solution for mobile devices. The company says the improved speeds will help future smartphones and other devices run on-device AI applications more efficiently with faster response times and lower latency.
