Xiaomi Announces MIUI 9 Global release

Perhaps the more exciting news during Xiaomi’s latest press event, apart from the announcement of their new devices, is the reveal of the global release of their MIUI 9 ROM and the list of devices that’ll receive the update. MIUI 9 was first released in China along with the Mi 5X last July (see the article with features here).

Here are some of the highlights of Xiaomi’s newest UI:

Yugatech 728x90 Reno7 Series

  • Mi Drop — an app that will allow the transfer of files between devices without the use of an internet connection.

  • Three new notification styles — Multiple, Bundling Notification, Quick Replies

  • Split Screen functionality

  • A new photo editing tool with smart removal

  • Mi Video — an app which supports most video formats and comes with an auto group function

And here is the list of compatible devices:

2017 Handsets:

  • Mi Mix 2, Mi Note 3, Mi 6, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 4X, Redmi Note 5A, Redmi 4, Redmi 4X, Redmi Y1, Redmi Y1s

2016 Handsets:

  • Mi Mix, Mi Note 2, Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi Max, Mi Max Prime, Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3, Redmi 3S, Redmi 3S Prime, Redmi 4A

2015 Handsets:

  • Mi Note, Mi 4i, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 4G Prime, Redmi Note 2

2014 Handsets:

  • Mi 4 and Redmi Note 4G

2013 and 2012 Handsets:

  • Mi 3 and Mi 2

The beta for the software is now out with the Stable Release slated in early November for the Redmi note 4, Mi Mix 2 and Mi Max 2.

    I cannot update my MIUI 8.0.8.0 Global stable for my Mi Note 2 to MIUI 9.0? is Miui 9.0 available in the Philippines particularly for MI Note 2? My old Mi3, update is easy thru OTA, but find difficulty for my Mi Note 2. Please assist…
