Xiaomi recently launched two new selfie-centric smartphones to the Redmi line in a press event in New Delhi, India. These aren’t necessarily new handsets though but rather rebrands of their Chinese counterparts, The Redmi Y1 is a rebrand of the Redmi Note 5A (which we already reviewed here) while the Redmi Y1 Lite is a rebrand of the Redmi Note 5A Prime. Aside from these devices Xiaomi also announced the global release of MIUI 9.
The Redmi Y1 is powered by a 5.5-inch HD IPS Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 processor, Adreno’s 505 GPU, 3 or 4GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of Internal Storage, Android 7.1.2 Nougat, and a 3,080mAh battery.
For photography, it has a 13MP f/2.2 Auto-Focus rear camera with LED flash and a 16MP f/2.0 front camera.
