The Philippines remains among the slowest countries in transitioning away from 3G networks, with most mobile users still relying on older devices that do not support newer voice technologies. This means nearly seven in 10 mobile users are still dependent on legacy 3G services ahead of the government-mandated shutdown of 3G networks by the end of 2026. VoLTE allows voice calls to run through 4G LTE networks and is considered a key step toward wider 4G and 5G adoption. We've got over a hundred submissions from our recent poll on mobile 3G services. Quite a number of users have already been using their new uMobile SIMs too (7.19%) while fledgling Sun Cellular 3G is still down there. Surprisingly, very few people are using PLDT WeRoam -- a service which has practically been supplanted by SmartBro Mobile 3G. uMobile on the other hand, though an autonomous telco is still considered a Smart/PLDT property and their free ad-supported 3G services will certainly bump up their total numbers. While our national broadband average is still nowhere near that of Singapore or Hong Kong, broadband and mobile internet speeds have significantly improved in the last few years.
