I told my friend -- it's all about capacity, not speed. Customers vary from the regular surfers (Friendster) and chatters (YM) to the heavy users (YouTube) and the hard core (online/network gamers). So, what we do is concentrate on capacity -- bump up our bandwidth to 8Mbps and increase the number of work-stations from 10 seats to 20 seats. The 1Mbps plan allows them to handle a large capacity of subscribers without choking their network. DITO Telecommunity once again proved its strength in the local telecom scene after being recognized as the Philippines’ best mobile network for the fourth time in a row by Ookla Speedtest Intelligence. The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is fully shutting down 3G networks in the Philippines by September 30, 2025. The removal of these networks is timely since there’s an increase in online transactions during the holiday season. Globe and Smart are working with the DICT and the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to shut their legacy networks down.
