Nikon has officially unveiled their newest addition to their full-frame camera lineup, the Nikon Z9 . The Nikon Z9 boasts a 45.7MP CMOS sensor, 8K video recording, and the four-axis 3.2-inch touch screen. However, Nikon claims that the Z9’s biggest selling point is its complete elimination of a mechanical shutter due to what they tout as the “world’s fastest image scan rate.” Nikon states that the quicker sensor scan rate is made possible with their all-new EXPEED 7 image-processing engine. The Nikon Z9 combines an intelligent AF and a Vibration Reduction image stabilization system. Nikon claims that their new AF system offers the fastest AF tracking performance in the Japanese camera company’s history. In addition, it utilizes a Subject Detection algorithm that can identify and track nine subject types including humans, pets, birds, airplanes, trains, cars, motorbikes, and bicycles. For video recording, the Nikon Z9 supports up to 8K resolution at a max of 30fps and 4K resolution capped at 120fps. On hardware, the Nikon Z9 sports a four-axis 3.2-inch touch compatible monitor and a Quad-VGA panel viewfinder that is capable of up to 3000cd/m2 (nits) peak brightness. The Nikon Z9 Mirrorless Camera is priced at USD 5,499.95, and it is now available for pre-order at the official Nikon website.
