Polestar, the electric vehicle offshoot of Volvo, has unveiled a new smartphone called the Polestar Phone. While the phone's design may be largely borrowed from Meizu, Polestar claims it was "jointly designed" by their global design team and the Xingji Meizu team in Gothenburg, Sweden. The device features Swedish gold accents meant to symbolize "high performance." Under the hood, the Polestar Phone packs flagship-level specs, including a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. Priced at around $1,000 (7,388 yuan / ~PHP 58k+), the Polestar Phone does offer some integration with the company's EVs, allowing users to view their phone's home screen on the car's display. Interestingly, the phone's presence on the Google Play Developer Console suggests Polestar may have plans to sell the device outside of China in the future. For now, the Polestar Phone remains an unexpected and somewhat puzzling addition to the company's product lineup. Sony has announced the Xperia 1 VIII, its latest flagship smartphone focused on photography, audio, and AI-powered camera features. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and supports up to two days of battery life.
