Qualcomm has just announced its latest Quick Charge 5 standard, capable of supporting more than 100W of charging power in a smartphone.   Qualcomm's Quick Charge 5 claims to charge a 4,500mAh battery from 0 to 50% in just 5 minutes. Operating at higher watts, Quick Charge 5 incorporates several safety features, including 12 separate voltage, current, and temperature protections, USB-input overvoltage protection at 25V, and external power controls beyond 30V. Qualcomm's Quick Charge 5 will be available in commercial devices in Q3 2020 and is supported on Snapdragon 865, 865 Plus, and future premium and high tier mobile platforms.
