Qualcomm has officially announced its latest flagship chipset with Snapdragon Elite Gaming, and support for multi-gigabit 5G, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 is designed to deliver on-devices AI and extended reality (XR) experiences. It features the company's 4th-generation, multi-core Qualcomm AI Engine, with up to 3 times the AI performance compared to the previous generation mobile platform. In addition, it also has the Snapdragon X50 Modem to support the imminent launch of 5G networks and smartphones, Snapdragon Elite Gaming for next level gaming experiences which the company is yet to elaborate on, and Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor, the world’s first commercial ultrasonic fingerprint solution supported under the display. Specs and other details of the Snapdragon 855 is yet to be released. Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon C platform, a new processor designed for entry-level laptops priced starting at around USD 300. Snapdragon C also includes an integrated NPU for AI features and is designed for fanless, quiet laptop designs. Qualcomm said laptops powered by Snapdragon C are expected to launch later this year from brands including Acer, HP, and Lenovo.
