Qualcomm has introduced at the Augmented World Expo (AWE) the new Snapdragon XR1 platform which is the world's first dedicated Extended Reality (XR) platform, which combines augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR). The Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 is the company's next-generation platform that offers mainstream users high-quality XR experiences while enabling OEMs to develop mainstream devices. Qualcomm Technologies also announced that OEMs Meta, VIVE, Vuzix and Picoare, are already developing on the first dedicated XR1 platform. Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon C platform, a new processor designed for entry-level laptops priced starting at around USD 300. Snapdragon C also includes an integrated NPU for AI features and is designed for fanless, quiet laptop designs. Qualcomm said laptops powered by Snapdragon C are expected to launch later this year from brands including Acer, HP, and Lenovo. Meanwhile, Acer’s higher-end Swift Spin 14 AI uses Snapdragon X2 Elite or X2 Plus processors and supports Copilot+ PC features. Qualcomm has announced the new Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processors.
