According to SamMobile, a report by Maeil Business News indicates that Samsung will be reducing its smartphone production by 10% from its initial goal of 310 million units to only 280 million units this 2022. The report states that similarly to Apple cutting back on its annual smartphone production, Samsung will follow suit attributing to the post-pandemic economy, rising prices due to inflation, and supply chain issues amidst the Russian-Ukranian war. Samsung on the other hand would be reportedly cutting back on not only its low to mid-end smartphones but its high-end, flagship models as well. The much awaited Omnia i900 from Samsung (see specs here) was released in the Philippines yesterday. While everybody is getting frustrated with the supposed Globe iPhone 3G pricing, the Samsung Omnia will definitely be a formidable alternative to the former. The rumored new Samsung i8510 that tows in an 8-megapixel camera and a 16GB internal storage becomes official. This new Samsung i8510 phone will be named Innovate or Innov8. I reckon that the Samsung i8510 is positioned against the Nokia N95 while the Omnia is targetted as an iPhone alternative.
