Samsung is planning on making the "smart" home fantasy a reality as they make a big push to improve their IoT (Internet of Things) services. During today's Samsung Developer conference, the company, aside from revealing Bixby 2.0, also announced that they are merging all of their IoT services namely SmartThings, Samsung Connect, and ARTIK under one platform -- SmartThings Cloud. SmartThings cloud will work as a single, central cloud-based control hub for all of the company's IoT services. With the release of SmartThings cloud developers no longer have to worry about developing and creating multiple products or programs to support those services as they would only have to work with a single API (Application Program Interface). Not only that but the platform will be an open ecosystem, which means it will support both Samsung and third-party devices. Samsung promises that as early as next year, consumers will be able to choose from a broad range of IoT devices and control them by using only a single app. The much awaited Omnia i900 from Samsung (see specs here) was released in the Philippines yesterday. While everybody is getting frustrated with the supposed Globe iPhone 3G pricing, the Samsung Omnia will definitely be a formidable alternative to the former.
