Sony is teasing what looks like the next model in its popular Alpha mirrorless line. On the official Sony Alpha Instagram account, the company posted an image with the tagline “Chase your dream” and the date December 2 at 9 a.m. The visual strongly suggests that Sony is preparing to unveil the A7 V, the successor to the Alpha 7 IV. Sony has not confirmed the name of the camera or any specifications, but the timing fits. The Alpha 7 III launched in 2018 and the Alpha 7 IV followed in 2021, so a 2026 release would roughly match the four-year upgrade cycle for the series. Rumors circulating in the camera community point to a new 33-megapixel “partially stacked” sensor designed by Sony, with support for 4K video recording at up to 60 frames per second. For reference, the Alpha 7 IV body started at around 2,500 US dollars when it was released, which is roughly 145,000 Philippine pesos at direct conversion only.
