Smart Communications announced last March that they will offer the Sony Xperia Z2 as part of their postpaid lineup. Sony Philippines has launched just this afternoon their new lineup of Xperia devices which include the flagship smartphone Xperia Z2, the Xperia Z2 Tablet, and the SmartBand. We're here in Jakarta to attend the regional launch of new Sony Mobile products which includes the Xperia Z2 and the Z2 tablet. The Xperia Z2 was first announced two weeks ago in Barcelona (see our coverage here) and is the 3rd-generation handset in the Z-series of flagship smartphones from Sony. The suggested retail price is Php33,990 and will be available in Sony stores and retailers nationwide. Sony’s Xperia 1 VIII has surfaced in an eSIM database, hinting that the next-generation flagship is already in testing. Despite Sony’s quieter smartphone strategy in recent years, the Xperia 1 VIII seems ready to continue the brand’s legacy of creator-focused, camera-first Android flagships. While details on design and cameras remain scarce, Sony is expected to debut the Xperia 1 VIII in mid-2026, roughly following the Xperia 1 VII’s June release schedule.
