Philippine National Taxi Operators' Association (PNTOA) president Bong Suntay said on Tuesday, January 2, that a group of taxi operators may petition a Php16 per kilometer fare hike due to an increased excise tax rates on petroleum products under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law. GMA News has reported that some passengers are still shocked at the implementation of the new fare hike. The DOTC defended their decision as it has been over a decade since there was a fare hike on MRT-3. They can then tag the group on their respective social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram or Twitter) and/or include hashtags such as #StrikeTheHike, #SelfieProtest and #NoToMRTLRTFareHikes on their post.
