The updated bill is requiring ByteDance to sell their platform to a US company within a year instead of six months Failure to comply will result in TikTok being removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. TikTok responded preemptively, saying that the ban ‘tramples the free speech rights of 170 million Americans, devastates 7 million businesses, and shutter a platform that contributes USD 24 billion to the US economy annually’. The company has twelve months to find a US buyer, otherwise their social platform faces a ban in the US market. But what do you guys think about the ban on Tiktok? Australia joins the list of countries that will ban the use of TikTok on government devices. The move to ban comes after the Chinese-owned app faces scrutiny due to security concerns.
