Microsoft just announced that all users running on current Windows 8.1, Windows Phone 8.1, and Windows 7 PCs and devices will be upgraded to the Windows 10 operating system, but there's a catch. Several versions are excluded in the upgrade, such as the ill-fated Windows RT. Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1 Update required. Some editions are excluded: Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 8/8.1 Enterprise, and Windows RT/RT 8.1. Active Software Assurance customers in volume licensing have the benefit to upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise outside of this offer. However, the company stated that users can still upgrade to Windows 10 OS given that the PCs running on Windows 7 is compatible based on these requirements with a full license.
