YouTube has started rolling out more visible labels for AI-generated and AI-edited videos as part of its push for better transparency on the platform. Starting today, videos uploaded to YouTube that are significantly changed or created using AI tools will now show a more noticeable label. However, YouTube now also uses its own detection system to help identify AI-generated content, even if creators do not manually tag them. If creators believe their videos were incorrectly labeled, they can update the disclosure settings through YouTube Studio. However, labels will remain for content created using YouTube’s own AI tools such as Veo and Dream Screen, or if the content includes C2PA metadata. According to YouTube, the new labels will not affect how videos are recommended to viewers or how creators earn money from their content. These new tools are designed to unlock powerful new forms of creative expression, streamline the creative process, and expand the reach of YouTube creators.
