Smart Bro Rocket Plug-It offers up to 12Mbps

Smart is set to publicly announce their new HSPA+ capable Plug-It and calls it with promised speeds of up to 12Mbps on their mobile network.

The Smart Bro Rocket uses a Huawei E353 HSPA+ USB dongle.

The new dongle is available for prepaid users with a retail price of Php3,995USD 68INR 5,771EUR 65CNY 496 (will be available by Friday next week).

The same Smart Bro loading system works and the same rates apply (Php10USD 0.17INR 14EUR 0.16CNY 1 per 30 minutes). Smart currently has 154 base stations capable of delivering HSPA+ speeds so it’s still limited to Metro Manila and key provincial cities like Cebu and Davao.

  1. Where do we find this lovely list of cell towers?

  2. how bout for smart postpaid?

  3. another promise to be smart broken…

  4. If that’s the case, then Galaxy S II users should be able to experience the “bump” in speed! Of course, with the right APN settings, I suppose?

Any info, Sir Abe, regarding this assumption?

  5. May unlisurf din ba to?

  6. Well. we’ll see.

  7. Let’ see first then, I’ll wait for this dongle to lower its price :))

  8. Up to 12mbps? Whats the minimum?

  9. I hope this will not be a disappointment. Hopefully you can get at least 5mbps even if you won’t achieve the 12mbps, that would be great.

  10. Sir Abe,

Will SMART authenticate access to the HSPA+ cell site and/or APN using the SIM ID?

If yes, it might not be as simple as using another HSPA+ capable device with your existing postpaid or prepaid smart bro sim?

Can you find out if there are no restrictions like these?

    Thanks. :)

  11. Guys, kindly post your speedtests ha and area. Thanks.

  12. Does the unlisurf of plan have cap?

  13. wowoweeee!

  14. wowoweee! can’t wait.

  15. unlisurf for a 12mbps? malaki ang chance na may cap ang unlisurf nito… or expensive without cap…

  16. It’s good to know that they offer prepaid for this unlike Globe’s which is only offered through plan. Nice one Smart!!!

  17. it’s fast at first but when a lot of subscribers will take this, will bandwidth limit be a problem again and can it handle a lot of subscribers?

  18. Sana mabilis nga to,..hehhe

  19. matry nga ito pag na-out na.. i hope it can reach atleast 5mbps.. hehe

  20. OT: WOW
nakakatuwa naman name ng broadband ngayon may lamborghini sa globe. Rocket sa smart. Ano naman kaya susunod na name nila… starship? Spaceship? Ano pa ba bibilis dun?

  21. If and when Smart can get 3G working better in this neck of the woods, ie ping speed of between 2000 and 3800ms d/l of 8-28kb/s u/l 38kb/s, then maybe this new product might work, but don’t hold your breath, this bad 3G signal has been reported since April, but of course smart could not give a hoot. and yes I do know its hspa+

  22. Hey Abe Yuga!
I have an iPad and a Kindle. Use a Softbank portable wifi for Net connection ( I live in Japan). I know my sofbank wifi won’t work in PI so I was thinking about getting this Smart Bro Rocket, but it PLUGS IN, right, like to a PC, right? So maybe it won’t work for me. Any portable wifi receiver you can recommend that DOESN’T have to plug into a device, like an iPad?

  23. Have to find it out, but i’m confident that it does.

  24. Sana nga makabawi na ang Smart dito sa 4G USB modem nila. Pagnagkataon… bibili din ako ng isa :p

  25. Lamborghini or rocket?lol..

  26. >>6.) Default charging will revert to Php200 per 180MB after September 30, 2011.
    useless man to…

a youtube download can easily top off 50mb in a single view.

kung merun ka ng android phone, simply enable tethering and you now have access to internet for P10 per 30minutes.

buti pa mag smartbro plug it for P10 per 30mins lang din. whats the use of 12mbps for 200mb lang.

  27. question:

pwede ba gamitin yung naka-line ko na SIM ng smart bro USB dito?

  28. i would like to ask if how much for 12mbps connections for post paid monthly?

  29. I bought a rocket plug it from smart website and as advertise is a 4G HSPA+ but after installing it on my PC,the device manager shows that it is a 3G Modem. Any fix on this?

  30. That Smartbro Rocket Wifi Plus is a BIG HOAX!! I bought 1 unit for Php6,450.00 last December 2011 and VOILA! A horrible 0.58Mbps download speed! Up to 20 Mbps download speed as advertised by Smartbro? BUL______HIT@#$%!!!! That FU____KING&*%$#@ Smartbro 4G made me believe in SENSELESS ADVERTISEMENT LIES!!!!
