Samsung unveiled a new line-up of TVs here in Singapore during the Samsung Forum 2017 attended by members of the media from SEA and Oceania. Samsung’s QLED TVs represent a new level of picture quality that are able to reproduce 100% of the color volume compared to conventional TVs.
This Samsung Q9 QLED TV has an 88-inch display.
There are a number of new models, ranging from the Q7, Q8 and Q9 series that feature very thin profile and narrow bezels. The new QLED TV series comes with a plethora of impressive features that addresses some of the very common pain points when upgrading to a new TV set.
The new series offer options to choose between two stylish stands – the “Samsung Studio Stand” that is looks like a an easel for a painting and the “Samsung Gravity Stand” that looks like a sleek contemporary sculpture that lifts the TV as if it’s floating.
For those who prefer to mount the QLED TV on the wall, the built-in No Gap Wall Mount allows the TV to hang on perfectly flat on the wall without any visible gap between the back of the TV and the wall.
A single, transparent “Invisible Connection” cable removes the eyesore of multiple cables dangling below the mounted TV. All other devices that used to be hooked up to the TV are now connected to a separate hub and out of sight, leaving only the TV in plain view and free of clutter.
Samsung’s Smart Hub has been streamlined and enhanced with smart capabilities for better user experience. The Samsung One Remote has become more powerful as it allows the user to control all other connected devices from one single source.
Voice commands can be made from the single remote and extends this capability to other devices connected to the TV. The One Remote can even power up your XBox One and instantly launch your favorite game with a simple voice command.
The Smart Hub interface has also been extended to your smartphone via the Smart View app, allowing the user better overview of all available content on the app’s home screen.
At the top of the TV line-up of many TV manufacturers are OLED panels. This has become the gold standard in picture quality and color performance.
Samsung has taken a step further by introducing QLED TVs. These enhancements were made possible with the adoption of a new metal alloy Quantum dot material so that the panels can reproduce a wider range of colors and picture detail compared to conventional OLED TVs.
Samsung’s QLED TVs are able to reproduce 100% color volume and able to maintain color accuracy even at higher brightness levels at around a peak luminance of 1,500 to 2,000 nits.
These QLED TVs are also able to dynamically adjust the level of contrast of the display depending on the intensity of ambient light. These new QLED TVs should arrive in the country before the 2nd half of 2017 in various sizes and models.
